Namie Amuro, one of Japan's best-selling pop artists, has announced her retirement from the music industry effective 2018. The Okinawa-born idol, who has sold over 35 million records in Japan, made the announcement during a live broadcast on her official website.

Career Highlights

Amuro's career spans over two decades, during which she has released numerous hit songs and albums. Some of her most popular tracks include "Come" (2004), "Four Seasons" (2003), and "B Who I Want 2 B." She has also collaborated with numerous artists, including the girl group MAX and One Piece composer Takanashi Yasuharu.

Amuro's success has been recognized both in Japan and internationally. She has won numerous awards, including the Japan Record Award for Best Female Artist in 2004 and the MTV Video Music Award for Best Video from Japan in 2008.
